ADVENTURE ALONG TIZI N’ TICHKA PASS

There is one road trip in Morocco that is not only takes you to your destination but has views and sights one has to experience to believe. The road was constructed in 1936 by the French, and links the great city of Marrakech to Ouarzazate. It takes travelers on a journey of adventure, beauty and breathtaking views, allowing visitors to experience a historical and spectacular part of the country. Locals met along the way make the expedition even more spectacular. This famous road is called Tizi n’ Tichka Pass, and is a safe and exciting way to explore Morocco.

desert camel ride tours & camel treks

A visit to the Moroccan Sahara desert is definitely an experience everyone should have at least once in their lifetime. It is a journey well worth the effort and you will have fond memories to last you forever. Imagine yourself on a camel ride, trekking through the rolling orange Sahara desert of Erg Chebbi Dunes. There is nothing around you and all you can hear are the footsteps of the camel on the soft sand. The sky is vast and clear in the day and filled with millions of bright stars at night. It is a very peaceful experience, one rarely known to most of the Western World.

unseco HERITAGE kSAR aIT bEN hADDOU

A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987, Aït Benhaddou was once a major stop along the caravan route between Marrakech and the Sahara. The striking visage of southern Moroccan architecture is thought to be 17th-century, and contains a mosque, two cemeteries (Jewish and Muslim), a public square, and areas for threshing grain outside of the ramparts. Despite not being completely abandoned, the earthen architecture is vulnerable to weather and lack of care. While the site has maintained its authenticity, lack of maintenance and its sparsity of inhabitants led to serious deterioration. Assigned a five-year plan by officials, the ksar received some care and restoration between 2007 and 2012, using as much wood and earthen techniques as possible to keep the site as historically preserved. One of the remaining families opened a traditional café to give visitors an overview of the ancient lifestyle in the fortress. A way to preserve the tradition and heritage.

Sandboarding in Merzouga Dunes

Erg Chebbi dunes is always a flurry of activity being one of the main attractions in Merzouga. One such activity is the opportunity to sandboard down the side of this dune. This thrilling activity has become a must-do for many people visiting Erg Chebbi. It is fun for both first-timers and those that are acquainted with snowboarding and skiing. You will be required to walk up the precipitous dune to reach the top, an arduous endeavor on its own. But the thrill you will get as you whiz down the dune makes up for all the sweat you broke climbing up. It is an unforgettable experience that has seen a few people going up two to three times to relive the experience.
